The Look of a Leg

English “Barley-Sugar” or Barley Twist

When buying antique tables, you notice the wood, patina and the legs. A popular and affordable type of antique table is the oak gateleg table with spiral legs, called barley twist. The twist can be hand-carved, but usually you’re more likely to find a twist that was made with a lathe. The spiral, or twist, turned leg can be single, double and/or open carved.

The style originated in the 17th century and became very popular in the Victorian and Edwardian periods.

This barley twist is on the next container shipment.

Great looking table. I have a rectangular table with similiar legs. I’m looking for a buffet now. When does the next shipment arrive?
